Dr. Rebecca Long

Skilled, compassionate, and always learning, Dr. Long is proud to help patients smile with confidence.

She has built her dental career on a deep desire to help others love their teeth and live life to the fullest. Known for her gentle approach and patient-focused care, she strives to build meaningful relationships based on trust and truth.

Whether easing discomfort or performing cosmetic dentistry, she finds joy in helping patients overcome the barriers that keep them from looking and feeling their best.

Dr. Long got into dentistry because of her own personal experiences. After years of braces and oral surgery when she was young, the final straw was a chipped front tooth in college that left her self-conscious.

A visit to her hometown dentist changed everything. The beautiful restoration not only repaired her smile but also reignited her confidence. That moment helped her realize she wanted to give others that same gift, and she hasn’t looked back since!

She began her education at the University of Virginia before earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry. Today, she continues to stay at the forefront of her field by taking hundreds of hours of advanced continuing education.

Dr. Long has also trained at the prestigious Spear Education Center and is currently enrolled in the Dawson Academy’s cosmetic dentistry curriculum. Her dedication earned her a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, a distinction held by only 6% of U.S. dentists!

When she’s not in the office, Dr. Long enjoys an active and fulfilling life with her husband Ryan (who also helps run the practice), their two cats, and a rescue pup named Lulu. She’s also an avid reader, loves traveling, and has a heart for animals, though she admits she had to stop volunteering at shelters because she wanted to bring every animal home!

If you’re looking for a dentist near Barton Creek with heart, experience, and skill, you’ll be in good hands with Dr. Long.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to get a tooth pulled without insurance?

When you consider where your dentist’s office is located, your oral health, the type of tooth that requires removal, and the type of procedure (simple or surgical) that is required, several factors must be reviewed before determining the exact cost of tooth extraction. However, the average price falls between $150 and $400 in the United States. If you require sedation, you can expect that to be an additional fee.

If you have dental insurance, you are encouraged to use it, as most companies will provide partial coverage between 50-80%; however, if you do not have a private insurance plan, you can ask about financing or other alternative payment options.

At Westlake Hills Dental Arts, we provide CareCredit Financing so that you can pay off your tooth removal treatment over time instead of all up front.

What level of education is required to be a dentist?

If you are interested in pursuing a career as a dentist, there are a few things you will need to accomplish:

  • You must achieve a bachelor’s degree and have high grades in math and science courses.
  • You must be accepted into one of the 67 accredited dental schools in the U.S. These usually require three years of in-class instruction and hands-on experience.
  • Once you obtain a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DDM) degree, you can choose to specialize in one of 12 areas that are recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA), some of which include orthodontics, prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, periodontics, etc.
  • If you choose a specialization, it may take another three years of training before you can begin to practice.
  • After you complete all your educational coursework, you must take a certain number of continuing education hours each year to remain licensed.

How do I find the best place to get dental work done?

You will first need to determine what is most important when searching for a dentist near Barton Creek. This can include:

  • Location – Is it close to your home or work?
  • Insurance – Do they take your insurance?
  • Specialty – Do they need to be a general dentist or a specialist focusing on a particular type of oral healthcare?
  • Operating Hours – Do you need a place that stays open late or offers weekend appointments?

Narrowing the criteria you require will help when deciding which places to research more closely. The next step is to read patient reviews and staff bios, and look at before and after pictures if they have a smile gallery. You can also call and speak to a team member to get a better feel for how they treat their patients.

How do I get emergency dental care?

You’ll first need to call the dental practice and ask the staff for help. If it’s a life-threatening emergency, you’ll need to call 911 and get to a local ER right away. Otherwise, you can expect the dental team to ask about the situation and what kind of symptoms you’re experiencing.

In most cases, you should be able to get in the same day for immediate care; however, this may not always be an option, depending on the dentist.

At Westlake Hills Dental Arts, our emergency dentist near Barton Creek welcomes same-day emergency appointments and remains eager to help alleviate pain while improving the state of a person’s smile. No matter the type of dental injury, we can use restorative treatment to repair and restore oral function and aesthetics for a damage-free, fully intact smile.
